I’m looking for Mandriva Powerpack 2007 linux on the web. But I can only see x64 and I586 versions. Can anyone tell my what I586 is (I only know I386), and if I can run it on an Intel Pentium 4 CPU?

Any mainstream x86 CPU supports i586. i386 is only for really serious compatibility, its basically generic x86. No one really uses it itself any more.
