Monitor will not initialize plz help

Hey guys.

I just purchased the Chaintech S1689 (ULi M1689) ATX motherboard and tried
installing it (along with a new processor) today. The problem I’m having is
that when I press the power button to turn my computer on I get nothing on my
monitor at all. Just black. However, the power LED turns on and the HDD LED
turns on. My monitor has power, but nothing comes on the screen, not even a BIOS screen or anything.

Here are things I have tried:

  1. I have tried clearing the CMOS jumper, setting the jumper cap at location
    (2-3) like the manual says. The only problem is that the manual is not clear
    as to what pins are 1-2 and what pins are 2-3. So I am not sure if I’m
    clearing the CMOS correctly. I have checked both the manual that came with
    it, and the online manual.

  2. I have checked to make sure that the RAM is seated firmly, as well as the
    IDE connectors and the FDD A-drive connector.

When I took out this Chaintech motherboard and the new processor
and replaced them with my old motherboard and processor, everything worked
fine. What may be the cause of my monitor not initializing and not even
getting a BIOS screen?

Yes. It takes DDR PC3200 as the main ram. And both sticks of ram I have in there are PC3200.

I should also mention that when I first turned on the computer after installing my motherboard, the motherboard kept beeping at me.

Does the motherboard have on-board VGA or are you using an AGP or PCI card? And if it is a card are you sure it plugged in correctly and does work? Also have you tried to unplug everything except the bare essentials? This post may help you out there.

Proper speed does not always equal compatability. Check the website that manufactured your motherboard to make sure that the specific RAM company is supported.
