My DVD RW works, CD RW Doesn't. Help!!

I have a HP Paviilion a330.uk with a factory fitted DVD+RW/CDRW Combi Drive. The 1yr warrantee ran out two weeks ago!!

The problem is the DVD RW works fine but the CD RW will not reckonise CD’s (data or music). It is baffling me, then again I am a bit of a novice at these things.

Please help!

Post with any errors you get when accessing them please.
Have you tried it in another computer if you have one available?

I don’t have another compter to try it in, and on the errors front:
There are no error messages. I put a CD in, the drive sort of whurs into action, the light comes on but then nothing. I go to my computer to look for the files and the computer just does nothing as if there is no disc in.

Put in a DVD and there is no problems at all.

Have you tried any cleaning devices in the drive?

Combos use two lasers, one for dvd and one for cd, so I’d try using a lens cleaner, see if that helps. If not chances are the cd lens is dead.
