Hi
I just bought a new geforce 2 MX400 64mb on my new 1,33ghz system (when i built it i didn’t had the money for a videocard)
I first used a old S3 virge pci 4mn card (lol)
And now i finally have a new card it aint working.
When I insert the card in the agp slot and start the pc the screen is blank but the pc itself it starting up
Ive looked in the bios for options but they all dont work
This really suck cuze a 4mb card on a 1,33ghz aint really fun hehe
Anyone has any ideas ?

there have been problems before where the graphics cards aren’t plugged in yet. Take a look and check!

Before I had this videocard I didn’t had any problems.

when you replaced the video cards, you might not have put your geforce one in properly. It is a common mictake!
Check that the video card is in the slot properly.
He means just check that the graphics card is slotted in properly.
Are there any beeps when the computer starts with the new video card?
Yup. Needs to be inserted fully. Even being out a little can cause it not to be detected. You don’t need to remove it and reinstert it, just push down on either end of the card to make sure it’s down all the way. I’ve had this happen to me many times, and it’s that or a bad card.

I know that the card is inserted allright cuze sometimes when its not the pc beeps one time long and two time short and on a site ive read that it means the graphic adapter aint working
So when i dont hear those beeps it should work fine but it doesn’t :mad:
The pc just starts like normal but no screen 
My monitor looks like the same as its on standby mode.
Can it be that my monitor is to old ??

The mobo is just new.
And the monitor works fine on my S3 virge videocard

It sounds like a bad card.
Humor me here: make sure that AGP card is touching bottom. My friend had a hard time figuring out why his Radeon wouldn’t show video. Turned out he didn’t have the Radeon down far enough.
If it’s not that, you could have a bad AGP slot.
Your situation sounds exactly like my friend’s.
Can it be bad when both the videocard and the mobo are brand new (well the mobo is 1 mounth old) ?
nope, thats not a possibility!
try the card out on a friends computer, that you let you know there’s some thing wrong with it or not…
btw: is that a PCI or AGP graphics card?
have you tried to install the card as a secondary? so you use the GF2 for games only.
That could be another thing worth trying, have you got an embedded graphics card on your motherboard? if so try and disable it and se what you get!
Ahhhh. I’m blind. Moobrack hit on something that might be the problem too. I think that ECS board has on-board video, so he’s right to suggest that you disable the onboard video.

Im gonna bring it back to the shop and they maybe know whats wrong

Also, which motherboard are you using the GF2 card on?.
I’ve heard of issues with GF2 cards on some motherboards, so there maybe a case here too.
