Hello, I have a PC that wont display the boot screen on the monitor, it halts on boot. I can see nothing..!
Using a POST card, I see that the PC stops at error code 28.
The System has:
INTEL Desktop Board D975XBX2
INTEL Core2Duo E6550 (4MB L2 Cahce and 1333Mhz FSB)
2G Kingston Memory (KVR800D2N5K2/2G)
Biostar PCI Express GeForce Series 7200GS 256MB DDR2 (VP7202GL26)
500W Power Supply
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40G SATA Hard Drive
I also tried using another video card but I had the same result, this other card is
ZOGIS (ZO73GT-E) NVidia GeForce 7300GT PCI Express
If anyone has some info of how to get this board correctly configurated please help me…
Thanks
Hi,
I Think ur RAM are no more .. test them with other Pc saying this because the same symptoms i have and i came to know my 1 gig ram was no more
Chk it it !
Do you get the fans spinning? Does it all power on?
Hello, I just changed the RAM for another PAIR of Kingston KVR800D2N5K2/2G that were working on another PC; also tried the firs pairs of memory on that PC (The one working) and the worked well.
I asked for help to INTEL Tech support and they sendme some PDF in were I find that the POST Error Code 28 (Wich my system seems to halt) is a Memory Test.
But why??? I have tested 2 diferent pairs of Memory that work on a diferen mother board???
Thanks!!
Fans Working… I also tested the Power Supply and it was ok (All green on the tester!!)
Might be a bad motherboard then if it’s giving you a memory test error when you know that the memory is good.
ya… chk out the board.
i am posting from the same pC which gave me the problem as u had and i just changed the ram and the pc got working without any problem. i think that my 1 gig ram was pretty sucky
It is unlikely to be the MBord as you mostly hear a ban or smoke or something it it has blown out.
Hello,
Finally I received a mail from INTEL telling me that the Procesor was incompatible with the board. They send me a URL that helps you find all the procesors that are compatible with the each board.
Hope this is useful to the comunity…

Well the problem was the procesor, I changed it and now everything works great!
