Need some help with hardware damage control

Alright my PSU fried my MB but I was lucky and the HDD is fine. I got a new MB and heres the psu -

Now I hooked everything up and actually got it to boot! HURRAY! Problem is heatsink fan isn’t working. I tried hooking it into every input and no luck. It is a stock heatsink so I might as well upgrade right?

I don’t want to spend much and don’t plan on overclocking. Any suggestions for a decent heatsink? I will also be scraping off the old thermal paste and applying more as I wait for it in the mail.

e8400 core 2 duo 3ghz
BFG 8800 GTS OC

Other question. My vid card is hot to the touch even when just booting up and not playing any games. Does this mean its on its way out from the power surge from the psu? I will test temps once I get the heatsink and report back.

I don’t know if that particular unit is rated for your CPU, so I personally wouldn’t recommend it. You might have to spend a little more, and if I were going to spend money on a new heatsink, I’d probably look at Arctic Cooling, specifically, the Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2. I’ve used their Freezer 7 Pro and Freezer 64, and they’ve been excellent units.

I believe the 8800’s run on the warm side, so I wouldn’t worry yet. It is a good idea to check those temps, however.
