Nice pool table! That house is well good

My mom liked your house.

so does mine, and kevin. You’re coming over tomorrow.

Why didn’t you post any pics of your mystery network drops?

Not completely positive that’s for networking, just tell me what you can make out of it!

EDIT=sorry for blurry pictures, not enough light for it to fully focus (Kodak EasyShare)

There’s some nasty wiring in there! The tech left some twist in that cat5 when it was terminated though, so he at least somewhat knew what he was doing. Just crappy work. It looks like a digital PBX (VOIP) and home security module to me, but I could be totally mistaken. That’d at least explain why you can’t network over those drops though!

yeah. It’s pretty bad stuff! I see a bundle of cables labeled “CATV” and they just loop into there, then go back out! Lame. Yeah, we have a weird security system installed.

That nasty bundle of cables is called a service loop. It’s actually a good thing, since if there’s a problem the next guy to work on it has some slack to work with. However, the way he bundled it shows he doesn’t care about the quality of his work.

hmm. We couldn’t even find the guy who did it. Now I see why, thanks for your help

Yeh it looks PBX to me, but you can’t be sure..

as for security i’ve just installed an Axis Network Camera in my loft overlooking the front of my house, it’s directly connected to 120GB External Network Storage which is connected by some home made CAT5E

I’ve just got to write a program on one of the computers (most likely my brothers), that will access the storage drive and delete anything older than 4 weeks every day.

It has its own web server and admin panel built in  Retails @ £250 :open_mouth:

I got it for £45 off work when they were floggin em :stuck_out_tongue: (funny that since im a Systems Techy)

Jesus my wiring looks like crap compared to that, the little that I have.
