New Motherboard, Incompatible Processor Error

I just replaced the motherboard on my dell e510 to repair a memory slot problem, and upon start up it says I have an incompatible processor. I read somewhere that it could be a bios problem reading the chip, and that a reset was needed to fix it. Can anyone confirm this or give me a way to verify the problem?

What kind of processor did you previously have? What kind of Socket did your motherboard have?

I simply replaced the board with a new board of the same make and model. My memory slots were bad and I needed to replace the board. The chip is the same for the system.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

Yes, I moved the jumper to pins 2 and 3 for 15 seconds, then replaced them on pins 1 and 2. Still giving me the error. The computer works, but the error is just annoying…:slight_smile:

Ok so the errors persists but does it boot up to Windows?
Im kind of short on answers here… do you have a screenshot than you can take it might help.

I went searching all over today and found no hopefull results other than:

Your motherboard simply doesnt support the cpu

I also found something interesting. I read from another user who had the same problem that he read his motherbaords manual and said he found a jumper to DISABLE the alert. Look in your manual if you have one and try to find it.
