Right now, AMD. However, if you’ll be primarily using this system for gaming, having the 3800+ X2 isn’t going to help as much as a faster single core CPU.
yea the AMD is probably the better choice. Instead of Socket 939 though you might wanna get a Socket AM2 as its newer and uses DDR2, faster memory than normal DDR that socket 939 uses. The only bad part about AM2 is that its still in its early stages and still has a few bugs.
AM2 is looking realy nice with its new ddr2 architecture and if its for gaming then AMD is for you. And like Big B said dual core isnt being utilzed fully by most games so you would be well advised to get a better GPU with the money that you save from not getting the dual core
i’m not sure if you guys know but Intel came out with a new architecture and its going to mostly likely beat out AMD, also they are in the processes of making a quad core processor. Yes its not cool but it happens, anyways thought that should be kept in mind, also dual core isn’t a factor at the moment but i would say in hte near future it will mostly definetly be a big part of games as well, doom 3 already has taken advantage of the dual core technology gigabyte_motherboards
