No sound on windows but there is on media player

Right my first post and sorry but its a help me thread lol

…aaaarggghhh damn computer. Right can anyone help me . Any idea why my computer sounds dont work eg:- no startup or shutdown sound for windows, no msn sounds, no website sounds (watchin a vid clip from a website),no game sounds but ive got sound from media player and aol. Its doing my head in now i know its prob a stupid little check box needs clicking but be damned if i can find it looked through control panel and volume control but cant find anything to sort it and last resort all i can do is do a windows repair hoping it will sort it.

Goto: Control Panel, (presuming you have classic view) sounds and audio devices, click the sounds tab, and make sure there is a sound scheme selected. It could be you’ve accidentally set it to no scheme.

Sorted it was sound scheme doh:doh: some one has bn on me comp messing about with settings without me knowing grrr. Cheers :smiley:
