NTFS Partition Deleted Itself!!!!!

Hello i came home yesterday and went to use my pc which i keep on all the time. when i turned on the monitor the computer was off which was odd because i keep it on. i was informed of a power outage earlier that day which resulted in my computer being turned off. i switched it on and “No Boot Disk Found” came up. My first thought was that my harddrive died because this computer booted no problem the day before and i had not done any work on it for along time. when i started checking things out using partition magic and other programs it is reporting that my drive is working and that there is 286GB of unpartitioned space (300GB harddrive). That used to be my windows partition!. So my question is where is my windows partition go (deleted itself?) and how can i get it back. I was using NTFS and Windows XP Pro. I am very puzzled as to what happened to cause this but i just want to get the computer back up and running.

i’ve expireanced somthing similar with gparted (linux) the only way i could view my partitions was to use the bootable CD from Acronis Partition Expert 2k3 the new version of PX is included in Disk Director Suite although only Win95 (in the Win family) had a habit of forgetting how to boot(but not always) try PE boot CD and if the partition is there make sure it is both primary and active, then transfer the boot info from an XP boot floppy set (downloaded from bootdisk.com (4 disks) if you don’t have any) then boot on the floppy and typesys a: c:this will transfer the boot info from the floppy to the bootable partition & not the MBR[ot]it was a more reliable way of booting Win95 (i don’t know how or why, but it worked on Win95)[/ot]

BTW: i don’t know if this will work, but it’s worth a shot (because it won’t make matters worse)
