Obtained another laptop off my uncle

But this one isnt very good Pentium 3 400Mhz with 32 mb of ram. But nt bad for nothing but anyway. I found my windows 2000 disc and installed it but then after using it for a while it came up this is an evaluation copy of windows and will shut down in 1 hr. I’ve downloaded linux and i’m assuming that it will be okay to put on this laptop??

EDIT: It also only has a 4gb hard drive :frowning:

Oh yeah. Linux will run fine on that, and, unless you have to stay with a Windows OS, it’d be a better choice. Win2k is a nice OS, but it’ll crawl on that system.

I’ve noticed  would mandrake do or could u suggest something user friendly but smaller??

Cobind is very light and easy to install

How about use tho?? I’ve never used linux b4

use is very easy and simple. If I was gonna set up a PC for my grandma Cobind would be on it

Lol okay well thanks for the recommendation i’ll download it now

I’ve never tried anything except windows. May try linux at some point

neither have i but tonight ive dowloaded two linuxs - gunna install mandrake on my pc tomoz and cobind on my test laptop

I wouldn’t install mandrake on a laptop, a usual install with it is around 1.3GB for me

yeh im putting cobind on the laptop and mandrake on the pc

cool have fun with that

I will do - I think i’m gunna like linux. Its free and I like free things.

Vector Linux reportedly runs faster on a P1~133 w/32mb RAM than Windows XP does on a P3~800MHz w/128mb RAM. Might wanna give that a whirl. :good:

Kk thanks - Also I downloaded Cobind and just copied to disc but it wouldnt boot  Is there a certain way to copy it to disc??

Are you sure you downloaded the ISO?

lol yup its deffinately a .iso

EDIT: its okay i copied another disc and it worked must of been a faulty disc
