I will be buying a new 17" TFT screen on tuesday and was hoping for some opinions on it please?
As a summary:
Acer 17" TFT LCD
8ms Response time
1280x1024 @ 75Hz max res.
500:1 Contrast Ratio
300 Cd/M2 Brightness
I know it’s not the best screen out there and it’s definately not going to break any records, but i’m sick of my huge CRT and need a upgrade 
If you make any suggestions on a different screen, please do so in AUD currency, under $340 as i’m on a budget :good:
I’m guessing my Acer TFT would be similar to that, and its very good for gaming. Don’t get any ghosting in games, not like some others I’ve used. They ghost while scrolling…
Yeah, when it comes down to it, Acer do make some good stuff!
The guy at the computer shop cracked one open for me and hooked it up so i could get a feel for it, it had a very good image and was pretty bright but when i compared it directly beside a equivelant LG model, the LG held it’s own, sporting a much deeper image!
So long as i don’t get any ghosting in my games, then i’m happy
Sooo, anyone got any other monitors they’d recommend or do you have any gripes with the one i’ve chosen because i’m buying it tomorrow!
tescos near my college are selling those acer monitors in 17" 19" and 21", they seem to be very good!
I dont know anything about Acer monitors, but if the cost is pretty similar, I suggest checking out the monitor that I am using (Samsung 997df). It’s an excellent monitor and I haven’t had any problems at all. Of course, it’s 19" so the there might be a cost difference. Just a thought…
Well, i just bought the monitor, the only difference being that i listed the AL1715SMD and i bought the AL1716 instead.
So far so good, i played Doom 3 and a bit of HL2 on it and there is no visible ghosting and the image is VERY bright, even on 50%.
P.S - I just upgraded my 9250 to a 9600XT finally he says :good:
