Every key of the Optimus Maximus keyboard is a stand-alone display showing the function it is currently associated with.
Optimus is equally good for any keyboard layouts—Cyrillic, Ancient Greek, Georgian, Arabic—and so on to infinity: notes, numerals, special symbols, HTML codes, math functions, images etc.
Every button on the keyboard is easy to remove in order to clean or replace.
It’s finally ready to pre-order, although costing $1564.37 USD I think I’ll pass.
Still, it’s nice to know that it’s finally going to be released
I think it was - if it was (say around £200) then I think it’d be a lot more popular - especially if they get amazing response times into the mix, could have a following with custom builders / richer geeks and gamers
Surely it would be alot cheaper to get a touch sensitive screen, hook it up as a second monitor and use it as a virtual keyboard? (and you can do whatever you want to it, even change the shape of the ‘keys’!)

a simple keyboard re-mapper can change what each key does, it needs to be solid gold before some rich folk would consider it, i’ll pass too
I think the main appeal of the keyboard is that it looks really nice and shiny. Yup you can remap the keys on normal keyboards but this keyboard boasts the ability to change the image on the keys to fit what’s been assigned to them. For example, you could map a key to produce a ß on a non-German keyboard without having to do the whole Alt-numpad code business, now on a normal keyboard you’d have to remember which key it was, but on this one you could change that key so it showed the ‘ß’ instead of the key it replaced.
It looks really nice and has some good features, but I’m going to get a HDTV, PS3 and Wii before I think of investing in that.
