Hi, with a few attempts to overclock my QX6700 with a P5W-DH Deluxe and a PC-9136 Corsair Dominator haven’t gained stability…
Having searched google etc… I haven’t found extremely useful stuff… I’d love a guide in which it explains in details how to overclock a QX6700 (the simplest way)… A better explanation of the P5W-DH BIOS would be welcome as well.
Thanks
Well, how far are you getting? Compared to the P965 and nForce 680i, the i975X chipset on the P5W-DH doesn’t overclock as well. The high-end seems to be around 300-330ish just prowling around for info.
yeah, I got 3.33GHz but unstable… I only chose an overclock profile in the BIOS…
That might be the problem. Not having a P5W-DH to check, I couldn’t give you specifics, so some of these suggestions may not even apply.
-Use the smallest OC Incremental profile
-Failing that, leave your voltages, timings, etc to auto, and work on the FSB.
Up this slowly and test it (I think you know what programs will help here).
I haven’t read the whole thing, but this thread is about P5W-DH overclocking, so you might benefit from seeing who’s doing what.
I don’t really know of any guide to specifically address a point by point overclock with your motherboard. The best thing to do is look for the P5W-DH and check threads in other forums, to get an idea of what settings to hone in on.
Overclocking, especially fine-tuning, involves some trial and error, so don’t expect to hammer out this OC in a day or two.
Thanks! Now I know where to look for my stability problems! ![]()
