Parallel port in PCI slot

Hi guys,

I have installed a parallel port in my new computer (Vista Home Premium) via a plug in PCI slot but cannot get it working. When I go to the device manager it shows as a MosChip PCI Parallel Port (LTP1) but I get two resource setting conflicts. These are I/O Range AC00-AC07 and A800-A807. I cannot seem to change anything as the Use Automatic settings is set to on but ghosted out so I cannot change it.

Any ideas?

Cheers

presumably, you are having a conflict with the onboard parallel port (LPT1) & the extra parallel port emulator you have added (LPT2)

check the configuration of the existing onboard parallel port (LPT1) in the BIOS and change it to a usable I/O range, then, you will have a usable range available to the parallel port emulator you’ve added

I have got a new computer which doesn’t have a parallel port (just usb) but I an external hardware that only works through a parallel port and so I have tried installing the pci card to give me a port but I just get conflicts.

cheers

what is the parallel port conflicting with, check all other devices in device manager & try changing the resources used by the device that the parallel port is conflicting with, and possible reboot, that should fix it
