I will try to make things as simple as possible…
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer. Everything is fine, except during shut downs and restarts.
When I choose shut down, windows shuts down normally: I loose the video signal, fans stop, HDDs stop, case light off. But…
When I use the power button to restart it, the fans start, the HDDs start, the GPU fan spins full speed and the DVD drive light flashes one. It won’t go further, I won’t get a video signal. During a normal boot, the GPU fan will slow down when the BIOS starts showing up. The keyboard’s numlock and caplock won’t work. It hangs there and that’s it. Reset won’t do anything.
To do something else with it, I have to force it to shut down by holding the power button a few seconds. Everything shuts down. If I power it up again, the same thing will happen. What I have to do is go behind the case, switch the PSU off a few seconds and on again. Then it will automatically restart correctly.
Now to when I put it to sleep: It does so normally, the case light is blinking. When I wake it up (by pressing the space bar), the fans go on and the GPU fan spins full speed… and it stays like this. Case light keeps blinking and HDDs activity light stays solid. Pressing reset won’t do nothing. Forcing shut down and restart won’t work, it’s the same as when I try to start the computer after a normal shutdown. I have to switch off the PSU and etc.
Finally, when I try to restart, Windows shuts down normally and after the process is completed, the DVD drive is checked up and that’s it. Power light is steady, fans running, no video signal and nothing happens. Reset won’t do anything. I have to force shutdown and upon restart, it’s the same story as the 2 others.
What I’ve tried:
Before installing Windows, I flashed the bios. Settings were all default and basic, I only adjusted the RAID settings. Afterward I tried playing with the ACPI (?) options, no success. In windows, I have downloaded and updated all available drivers for the motherboard. I have no unknow devices.
Please find my system specs attached, and thank you in advance for any inputs! This problem make using the computer extremely unpractical!
