I have seen the Pentium M laptops that only have a battery life of 3 hrs,
but every pentium M with Centrino are like 5-6hrs,
However Centrino is not a processor. Rather in order for a laptop computer to be called “Centrino”, it must have the new Pentium M processor, an Intel 855 chipset, and an Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 (802.11b) or Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (802.11b/g) network card.
So these laptops are almost the same regarding battery life, Why are the centrino laptops lasting longer than the Pentium M, ( I just got a pentium M processor and it does not last longer than 3 hrs at normal battery life settings, but a year old Pentium M with Centrino, a buddy of mine, its still lasts like 5 hrs even when running a dvd inside) why the battery life difference ?
hi m8 centrino laptops use less power full stop they also run cooler tha just the pentium M. but im not sure y exactly they use less power it will have sommat to do with the mothereboard achitecture and power needed of the parts.
Are you sure about this? I’ve been using a Centrino (ECS-G553) with standard batteries that go with the unit, and I can tell you that it doesn’t reach 3 hours at all. I do know that on batteries, the processor runs at a slower speed (Speed-stepping), but honestly, my unit never reaches 3 hours.
yeah, I am sure about this, even one of my class mates, he has a P-M with centrino and it lasts all day. You even put your mouse curser over the battery icon and it says 5hrs left.
I watched a movie on a Toshiba P-M Centrino for 2.5 hrs and after the movie was done the battery still showed 3.5 hrs left. My P-M doesnt have Centrino, and it NEVER shows battery life longer than 3hrs , even when I adjust battery performance to high life.
