I need some sort of illustration to show me where all the cables are supposed to go, i read the manual that came with my motherboard but its all jagon to me.
The main things i need hooked up are the 2 80mm fans and the 2 120mm fans and the front leds and the on/off and reset button.

Thanks.

Just plug things in where they fit, but you shouldn’t have to force anything too hard.

wont it go kaboom?

Here’s a decent walkthrough on building PC’S.

Hope this helps.

Pretty bad description there, sometimes things will fit anywhere and stuff just may go ‘Kaboom’

For the fans, assuming they’re 4 pin Molex connectors, you can simply hook all of them up together (pretty much a daisy chain) and then hook the one remaining Molex connector to the power supply.
With the LED’s and the Switches, they’re pretty simple. Your motherboard will have the pin headers usually on the bottom right corner of the board and tiny writing beside each header telling you what goes where. In addition, if you have a good board, the manufacturer may have colour coded the headers for you. Read the end of the LED and Switch wires and they will say HDD LED, PW SW, RST SW, PWR LED and so forth. In most cases, the darker wire of the two on each cable will be positive!
I attached my motherboards pin headers as an example >

Well really, what can you plug in that doens’t belong…SATA cable can’t be plugged into an IDE drive, most IDE ribbons have the top stopper so you dont put it in backwards, you can’t plug molex connectors into anything but molex…But yeah, I could have been more descriptive I guess, I was in a rush :frowning:

thanks for the help but i am still a little bit stuck on a few things, especially fiddly things such as the front panel audio etc.

Also there is the fans. Do i connect those directly to the PSU?

Thanks again.

That depends, do they have 3-pin fan connectors or 4-pin molex connectors?
If they have 3 pin fan connectors then your motherboard should have 3-pin headers for them to fir onto, if not then you may need a 4-pin molex to 3-pin fan adapter.
If they are 4-pin molex fans then just connect straight to the PSU

Yea they are 4 pin molex. Thanks, i will connect them all directly to the PSU.

Hope things go well, and as for connectors, here is a picture of a motherboard with all major features labelled. Although the layout may be different and you should consult your manual for the exact pins etc…
