Power Supply Upgrade

Computer Information: Gateway Support - 1009400 Gateway GM5407E Desktop Computer

Right now I have this power supply Gateway Support - Specifications

And want to replace it with this one: Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

I need to know if the PSU I want to buy will fit inside my case. Here’s the internal view of my computer case: Gateway Support - Inside View

need to see the back of your case, and the way it bolts … Also make sure new power supply is the same on the main pin… 20/24…

Here is the read view of my PC: Gateway Support - Rear View

The bolt pattern looks to be the same,So it should work for you..

Yes it will fit…

The power supply unit in today’s modern computer assumes a role probably more critical than any other single component in your system.

A poor PSU can also cause other components to fail in your computer.

Unless you are into some serious gaming a 600 watt or higher will take care of your needs.

If you are a serious gamer a 750 Watt, or a little higher will be all that you would need.

It should work. The only company I’ve heard to use a funny wiring layout is Dell, and I’m not so sure they do that anymore, but don’t quote me.

A quality 450-500W should be fine unless you plan on getting some high-end GeForce or Radeon to drop in that thing. Even then, some 500-550W units can do it if the +12V has enough juice to sufficiently power the beast.
