Problem with Data Recovery.

I am my local computer geek, and a guy wants me to get data off of his laptop hard drive. Who knows what happened to rest of laptop. I recently purchased something to interface this laptop drive with my PC, but it is the wrong type of adapter.

So my question is, what adapter do I buy to accomplish this?

But im not sure, included is a picture of the Hard Drive, and its a Hitachi DK23CA-20

You’ve got the right idea but that enclosure doesn’t come with an AC adapter.
You might consider something like the following:

or
Newegg.com - Thermaltake BlacX N0028USU External Hard Drive SATA Enclosure Docking Station 2.5" & 3.5" USB 2.0 - External Enclosures
This one is a little more expensive then you might like but the nice bonus is that you can use it for both 2.5 and 3.5" HDD for any future projects/fixes.

But those two enclosures have internal spec support of SATA, I’m fairly certain that the device is ATA, not SATA? Correct?

Good call man, you are definitely correct. Maybe [B]this[/B] one, it seems to receive power via USB and would also seem to support IDE which I believe is the same as ATA.
