Hoping someone can help me out with this problem because it’s doing my head in a bit.
Basically when ever I play CD’s through my computer or burn them (usually only my hard drive before putting them on my MP3 player) I get what I can only describe as a skipping effect.
I’m a total technophobe but someone mentioned to me it could be a lens problem, can anyone add anything to this. If so how do I go about getting the problem sorted?

You can get a CD lens cleaning CD wihch has little brushes at various points on the CD.

I got one of those, but to be honest it hasn’t had much of an effect (if any).
Will that be the problem and it’s just a case of using the lens cleaner a few times?
When do you get teh skipping? Is it during CD playback?
It’s when I play the CD’s through the computer (i.e in Windows Media, Real etc etc) or in playback after I’ve saved them to the hard drive.

are the cd’s damaged?
That can affect the ripping.
It sounds like either your sound card could be dying, or your cdrom is screwing up.
No the CD’s aren’t damaged, sometimes I’ve put them straight into the CD player straight after purchase.
If it is one of the above problems, I’d be disappointed as I only bought this PC in September. Sure my warranty will cover me though.

id try downloading some different burning software like nero 5.5 or 6 and try using one of theese i use this with my optorite 52x24x52 drive and i never get any problem but once i tried it like you have and got the jerkiness too! i would try this program which builds an image of the data and then copies it teds t run alot smoother you get get a copy from the website m8. hope this helps Dave. :good:
