Problem with norton antivirus

When i try to run my ‘fotostaion easy’ program an error message comes up,

‘C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security Professional\Norton Antivirus\NAVAPW32.exe is not valid Win32 application.’

and will not let fotostation run. I have tried reinstalling fotostation but it doesn’t help.

I don’t see why it’s linked to norton? What can i do?

Rory

Norton is well known for its bugs, Symantecs Norton Anti-Virus has the reputation equivelant of Microsofts operating systems, Norton is a good Anti-Virus program, however considering the amount you have to pay for a subscription, the product and the amount of resources (memory and cpu) it consumes - there are ALOT better Anti-Virus programs around.

For instance: Grisoft Anti-Virus 7, you can find it in the Download Zone, it’s a completely free Anti-Virus program, use’s very little resource and is a very good AV.

I would recommend uninstalling Norton, and installing AVG

Totally agree. Norton and also McAfee drain system resources considerably over lighter AVs like AVG 7.0. Also you don’t have to pay annually for updates. AVG is completely free.

That’s more true than you know. Symantec actually has a nasty little “feature” in their software. Even after uninstallation of NAV, other (rival) antivirus software will not install/function properly. Unless they’ve changed their practices recently, you have to manually remove many, many registry entries and some DLLs for other AV software to function.
