Problems with speed

Hello i think im having problems with the ram  but, my ram came with my computer which i bought a month ago. My pc runs extremely slow while multitasking (having more than 5 programs open) so is it the ram or is it overclocked or is supposed to run like s**t?

Amd 64 754 3000
Asus k8ne deluxe
kingston 512mb ram
350 antec power supply
120 gig sata hard drive/ 6 gig ide
Lg DVD burner/ dvd rom
geforce 5200fx

well many systems (windows) do run slowly with 5 applications open at once.

I’m running 2 gigs of RAM and I still get it slow down when I try and do too much.

512 is the minimum really for xp, I’d consider getting another stick at some point.

Unfortunately this is wrong, sorry to disagree Waffle..

Windows XP runs slowly when running anything under 256MB really - when multitastking different applications at the same time.

I’d personally take your computer Back, and ask them to sort it out, it could be to do with anything.

Although i would make sure you have a good anti-virus and are virus free, have some anti-spyware tools such as Spybot Search and destroy.

Yep, do some AV checks for hidden programs running, Windows XP needs minimum 128mb, 64 for itself and 64 for whatever else. But Really 256 is the minimum. I used to use XP Home with 128 shudders
