PSU Win Power 400w, +12-18A, +5-40A, +3.3-28A
Ive been advised in other posts that my current psu is a little weak and could be the reason why graphic hungry games are crashing. I have had warning messages saying “the graphics card stopped responding to commands”.
this is concidered the daddy of PSU’S (in my opinion) Antec – SmartPower 2.0
but you’d be better off talking to Big B, because he is the daddy to end all daddies
THE Power Supply Sticky!
Anything on that list over 400W with 25A (or more) on the 12V Rail will be fine, if you think you’ll be upgrading in the near future you may want to get something a little heftier (sp?).
Depending on what you want to spend, the Enermax EG565P-VE or Antec TruePower TPII-550 are both excellent units that have a decent price and can handle a lot. Also, any Hiper Type-R line unit 480W or better will be good. Same with the Tagan TG480-U22. If you’re really pressed for cash, the Enermax EG375AX-VE (370W, but don’t let that fool you, it could easily be rated at 500W) or Fortron AX400-PN/AX450-PN will also do the job well.
The main thing about power supplies is don’t skimp. A 500W unit for $20 is probably not going to be a good unit (unless there’s some super deal going on), and may even have the same specs as what you have already—sometimes worse.
That’s a good unit there, and will do the job. I wouldn’t worry about upgrading it, unless you plan on running a GeForce 7900GTX SLI or Radeon X1900XT Crossfire rig.
