I’ve recently upgraded my computer, but I have a problem
The screen is going funny, it likes shows up perfect, but then it goes blank , then comes back, delay of about 6-15 secs then does the same, this is happeneing all the time.
I tried swapping the card and putting an older radeon card in, and that works perfectly. Ive also tested my monitor on a new comp and that works fine.
I really cant understand why its doing it, unless it has somehting to do with the power supply, it has a max output of 350 watts. But would this happen if i need to have a higher psu?
My specs are as follows
AMD 64 3200, 1 gig DDR 400, 1 60 Gig drive, a cd drive, and a dvd burner drive and of course the radeon 9800
Waffles is probably right, a beefier PSU won’t break the bank and should give you some insurance for the future. Especially if you’re liveing off of some generic thing, like my 400wt thing (suprised it still works with my 6800).
Hahaha, yea I know how you feel, it took 4 weeks for my RMA with ABIT to come back. If you bought it form Newegg it will be much faster though. This is all assuming you RMA it. Continue to pittle around with it until you give up all hope, then RMA it.
Right tracked down the problem, its got something to do with the monitor and the radeon card. When my fiance changed from his crt to the tft it starts.
Ive got a Pro view 15 inch monitor. But i dont think the monitor can be faulty, because it works perfectly without that particular card.
So it appears that both the card and the monitor may work alright on their own but they’re simply incompatable together (or so it seems). This doesn’t make sense but you could always swap monitors?
I wouldn’t think so but it’s a thought, adaptors are there just for compatabilites sake, and since he’s using a flat screen (right?) you wouldn’t need an adaptor as the 9800’s are DVI ready.
