I plan on buying only sata drives for my current building project, and i was wondering if using a SATA drive for the first drive first iinstall will pose any type of problem. I dont remember seeing SATA in any area of the boot order options of the bios on my last computer. thx
Make sure they SATA ports are enabled in the first place. I don’t have your board, but they enable/disable configuration should be under Integrated Peripherals. Then the SATA ports should show up with the IDE ports as well as showing whatever drives are connected to them.
Check the locations in your mobo manual.
aite thx buddy
I had some problems when trying to install may SATA as primary drive while using an IDE drive as my second. I have the Gigabyte 8Ik1100 mobo and I found that in the bios i had to assisgn the SATA as primary master (this setting wasnt in boot order). The IDE drive had to be set as slave and be plugged into the secondary IDE port, as the SATA swallowed up the primary IDE port. Using the SATA meant that I could not put any devices on the primary IDE port. The SATA does not require jumper settings as it auto configures.
So long as you have a SATA mobo and want to use only one SATA HDD then the system “should” atuomatically configure itself.
