Yeah, I noticed Seagate controls Maxtors RMAs now.
Id get on to them. They must know that seagate has a better name than maxtor so should expect problems when they send out maxtor drives to replace seagates. In fact id really see my arse if that happened to me.
well, i decided to phone Seagate, and the person i talked told me that Maxtor drives are just rebadged Seagate drives, (that’s when i called him a lier:O ) but he was correct because[ul][li]on the label it says "manufactured by Seagate[]it looks like a Seagate drive[]the microchips are laser eched with ST (Seagate Technology)[/ul]
[/li]
so i’ve decided to keep the drive[ot]if it fails after 18 months, the guy i talked to said "just send it back to us[/ot][ot]feel bad now about calling him a lier, but he’s a big boy, he’ll get over it[/ot]
Well, that’s good to know that Seagate is simply taking their own drives and slapping a Maxtor tag on them now. I just might buy a Maxtor drive the next time I need one if that’s all that’s being done.
