Slow site - why?

Hi everyone. This is a question from a bit of a Pc numpty so bear with me! Not sure even if I can post this here but here goes anyway…

I buy items from Ebay in connection with my business and this entails hours on end surfing Ebay for the right items.

When on Ebay, I am finding the site gets very slow for me after about 10 minutes usage. Pages take between 5 to 10 seconds to load = severe exasperation. No other site I visit gives me this problem with all other sites pages being lightening quick to load.

We are on Telewest broadband. The Telewest engineer says theres nothing wrong. Ebay tell me theres nothing wrong. My PC engineeer tells me theres nothing wrong. BUT there is something going wrong because of the probs I’m getting.

The PC is about 12 months old. It has extra big memory. Is well maintained for anti spyware and virus check etc. One point to note is the capacity (the cake or pie thing is three quarters full at any one time)

I know very little about PC workings and would really appreciate someone telling me “what sort of thing” would most likely be causing me the probs with Ebay site slow loading so as to give me that vital clue!

Any questions re. my equipment, I’ll try and answer but I’m pretty PC illiterate!!

Hope someone can help here as I’m finding no one else has a clue and I’m close to picking up the sledgehammer and beating :swear: out of this thing. Plus its costing me money:mad:

Welcome to hardwareforums Matt1959

You can get a speed boost by using firefox, Firefox - Rediscover the Web

after you’ve installed firefox, follow the first two tweaks in THIS guide (makes pages load even faster AND renders them faster).

One extension (something that adds extra functionality, in this case to firefox) that i find very usefully for EBay is reload every as it allows you to refresh the page automatically every X seconds/minutes. LINK.

Hope this helps
