Speed up possibly?

Hey all –

I know the obvious answer here, but does anyone have any other suggestions? First… here is my setup.

Intel Core2Duo e6300 2.06ghz
ASROCK Motherboard (Forgot which) PCI-e x4
1gb PC2-5300 Buffalo Ram
300gb IDE Harddrive
nVidia PNY 7900GS x16

So yeah, the motherboard I bought because I could only afford so much – and this motherboard allowed my old AGP card to function at top end, where as a PCI-Express videocard could only handle 4x.

I know I should add some more RAM, but I’m not utilizing it all. I’ve cleaned it up.

I work at a computer store – so I can build a new computer. I’m just stumped on ideas.

I’m building this machine here:

Intel Q6700 Quad Core
Intel 680i Motherboard
4gb Buffalo FireStix DDR2 PC-6400 Memory
250gb SATA2 Harddrive
nVidia 8800 Ultra Video Card

All for cost.

That is coming within the next couple of paychecks. I already have the quad purchased and the motherboard.

I just am looking for some ideas on how to make this machine pretty fast? Would it be logical to just throw another gig or two in this board and call it done? I don’t want to invest a lot of money, but this is still a very decent machine. Only bottleneck is the RAM.

Well you could up the processor to over 3 ghz, that would help some.. Next is
this computer on DSL or Dial up ? This would make a huge difference.
Next would be to fine tune your OS, What ever you plan on running..
