Spreadsheet Headache!

All I want to do is type in June 1999 and it comes up as 1/06/99.
Ive tried goint to the format, cells bit but none will let me type in June 1999 without changing it to 01 June 1999 or summit.

Does anyone know how I can get it to just type in June 1999 all on its own?

Also I have lots of rows which need the number 20 in. When I drag the cell down it goes 20,21,22,23,24… How can I get it to just show 20!?

Can someone please help me!

I’ve tried both of them and they are working in the same way you want…
For date, if I just enter June 1999, it is appearing as Jun-99.
For 20, when you drag the box in other boxes, you will get a auto fill options box. There you need to select the copy cells instead of series.

Thanks Karanislove.
I saved it as an Exel file and tried it in that. Ive got it how I want now.

And people say microsoft is crap! Star Office is worse! Its the first time ive used either. I used to use Corel Quattro because it is the only one which can do infinite rows and columns.

Edit:
I spoke too soon. I type in 132000 and it comes up as 26 may 2261 !

Not about their Office but Windows..

try OpenOffice it beats the crap out of star office and ability office with a big stick (quite good) and its free

try formating the cell to the date format you want e.g. mmmm, yyyy should give you “June, 99” I hope

won´t that return ¨June, 1999¨ to get ¨June, 99¨ i thought you needed to format ¨mmmm, yy¨

Ive formatted the cell so it says “General Format Cells has no Specific Number Format”
It seems to have worked.

And isnt Open Office a cut back free version of Star Office?

dunno i didn´t think so, but that does kinda make sense

dont know about Star Office but in MS Excel, if the preceding cell contains a number one lower than the selected cell move cursor to corner of cell (until cursor is a small cross, then drag over cells to fill with ascending numbers)
