Okay. So heres what happened…I was fixing my CD-ROM drive and bent a pin for the IDE port thing…i bent the pin back, and well no dice. My Computer won’t start fully. I recognized the CD-ROM drive [that certain one] as the Primary Master or something. Now what I need [or think I need] is to know how to change the Primary Master to another device…either that or any other suggestions. The motherboard is an American MegaTrends and the farthest to startup I’ve gotten was to the black screen that says to start in Safe Mode or Last Known …blah blah blah…etc. SOOO…if anybody has any suggestion…anything…please reply. Thank You.![]()
First off, check to see if your jumper settings are all correct. On each IDE ribbon there should be 1 master(primary), and 1 slave(secondary). If your CD-ROM and Hard drive are on the same IDE ribbon, I’d set your hard drive to the master, and your cdrom to secondary, and the cdrom jumper should be in the middle of the 3 pins like this:
Of course, you could have the CD-ROM and Hard drive on seperate IDE ribbons, both set as master.
If your jumper settings are good, the POST (Power-on Self Test) will show your hard drive and cdrom. If they show them both, It should boot into windows normally.
Hope this helps~
what pin number did you bend, pin 1 start at red stripe on the ide cable
