Hi.
I have two questions related to CPU “health” and POSTing please.
i. A mainboard does not POST with a faulty CPU. If it posts, does it mean that the CPU is “ok” please - or can a CPU be “ok” for a POST and not “ok” for other processing?
ii. Can a CPU develop an intermittent fault such that at times the motherboard is able to do a POST using it and at times it is not?
Thanks a lot!
Marco.
Hi,
A CPU can post but still have errors somewhere inside. If you think you have a faulty cpu, try running a stress program such as prime 95. It forces the cpu to calculate prime numbers and then can check its results to a standard list of correct results. If there are errors, then the cpu has a problem somewhere inside.
