Does anyone knows if there is a problem with the Ubuntu images downloaed from their site? I have spent today trying to download and burn the image and everytime the CD failed the integrity check… does anyone know of any issues?
The CD ISO files have an associated md5 checksum on the file mirror, usually something like
“filename-md5.txt”, inside this file you’ll see a string which is the MD5 hash of the main iso file. run md5sum ubuntu-cd-image.iso and when it’s done it’ll spit out a hash. If this hash matches the hash in the text file, then the download is not corrupt.
I thought you were refering to some built-in wonder function… I knew about the command line stuff…
AAaanyway, it turns out that it was the coffee-cup-coaster aka CD-RW disk. It was faulty after all. I just rummaged and found another one. After burning, it passed the integrity check…
