Hi today i bought 500GB sata hard disk and connected to my computer(Already i have an 80 GB IDE connected with XP installed). After connecting i could not view the hard disk in the My Computer, but it has been detected in BIOS. So i went to Computer Management tool and found that this new harddisk is not initialized so i started to initialize and the wizard ends up stating this new disk as a “Simple Volume”. I am not sure whether what i did is correct or not. Please advice me if i made any mistake in this. Also the problem is i am unable to partition the Simple Volume disk.
If it is IDE hard disk i would have removed the jumper from it and it would have been treated as a slave. So first i want to know whether i should add the new hard disk as a master or slave. For now when the system starts up it shows the hard disk (new) as secondary.
