USB connectivity

Hello all - this is my first visit and I’m already shouting Help!!!

I have come across a problem when trying to connect the USB lead from my internal MITSUMI FA 404M FLOPPY/7IN1 device to my ASUS ABN-E mainboard.

The USB socket on the MITSUMI has 4 pins in line and the three USB outlets on the ASUS board each are
10 minus 1 pins in two rows - a five and a four. The designation/description for these outlets is USB/GAMES to connect to a case back slot module.

Can anyone help me sort out where to connect the USB lead.

No problems with the ide cable for the floppy disk, but not much good if I can’t use the card reader slots.

The 5x2-1 USB sockets on your motherboard can support two USB ports… Im guessing your drive only needs one.

4 wires sounds right, 2 power and 2 data… you could actually attach a usb plug onto that :stuck_out_tongue: (But i think you shoudl just be able to plug it into the mobo).

What i dont know, is what the 9th pin is for… if each usb socket only needs 4 wires, whats the 9th one for! [could just be there to stop you plugging it in the wrong was round :D]
