USB router?

Hi, i’m new to networking and have only recently got broadband through wanadoo who supplied me with a speedtouch 330 modem.
I want to get a wireless network but my modem uses a USB connection and not a ethernet connection.
Does anybody know of any good USB type routers or will i have to buy a new all in one modem/router?
Cheers Readie.

No you’re better off with ethernet, USB can be more hassle to set up.

I think this router should be good: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/DG834G.php

Or if you want 108mbps speed this: http://www.netgear.com/products/details/DG834GT.php

I don’t think you should get an USB router. Yep, it’s a hassle, AND the speed of the interenet would also be affected by your CPU. Say your CPU is currently busy with some applications, the speed would drop as USB transfer rates are dependent on CPU load levels.

Right, and NAT is one of the most valuable features of a hardware router. With USB routers, it’s pretty much moot. Go with ethernet if possible.
