Video card Question

I was seeing on some video cards, like a 256mb size, that it has a memory interface of 128 bit. I was wondering, what is the memory interface and what connection does it have to the other parts of the video card?

thanks alot:)

Im not very sure what the second part of the question is asking but the memory interface (eg 128bit) is the the bandwidth of the memory on the card.

Ok well on this card, Newegg.com - XFX GeForce 7600GT PVT73AUDE3 Video Card - Retail
it has a 256 mb size memory and 128bit memory interface. What would happen if the memory interface was 256bit?

then it would cost a lot more. I have been told that the reason they use the 128bit architecture is because it costs so much to build cards with the wider memory bandwidth. The card would perform better as more info can go to and from the memory at a time but it would not be the same card.

Hey thanks alot that’s all i needed to know.

thanks matt
