Hi, i just installed Mandriva linux on my old celeron 1.2ghz computer, i have checked the video options and they seem to be ok, the thing is i get all this crap all over the screen, i have posted a pic to better describe the problem.
As you can see on the top left, there are 3 icons then loads of like rectangle things, when i hold left click on the top bar of the windows on the right, and move that widnows around, i get all those like rectangle click things, also in the right windows you can see some icons over text, and they look inverted too, i dont understand whats causing this, maybe software corruption? or maybe video problem, but it all seems to be configured correct, and those 3 icons you see at the top left corner, to click on the icon i have to click on there name which is actually in the right of the screen were you cant see becouse it has been covered by the control center.
Open up a terminal and type ‘glxinfo’ (no quotes, of course) at the prompt and hit the enter key, then copy the output & paste it to a forum window.
Roughly, the same thing applies when you type ‘kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf’ in a terminal window, but in this case, ‘Kate’ will open up its own window and you can copy and paste from there.
i think your wrong becouse it was like that for hours, umm but it doesent matter bout that anymore, i installed mandriva on my pentium 4 rig, now before mandriva either gets to booting, i have this error message that says, Kernel panic - not syncing:No init found. Try passing init = option to kernel., whats happened now? can this be fixed withought having to install Mandriva again?
I did put my hard drive on my subwoofer today, and it said in the sub box to not have any electrical equipment within a metre of the sub, could i have damaged it?
