I have recently moved to an awesome Apple laptop from my PC that I built about two years ago to play games on. The reason I moved is because I found an unbeatable deal on a Powerbook G4 and I havent had the time to play as many games as I used to. That is another story in itself. Anyhow I have a bunch of videos, TV shows, movies and MP3s on my PC. My current plan is to turn the desktop into a server. The problem is I do not know which OS to install on it? I basically will use it for storing videos and MP3s when I am on the road. In addition I want to connect to my PC with my Powerbook to and download any TV show or any other video/MP3 thats on my PC directly to my Mac. Here are the specs of the PC:

Any help on what would be the best operating system to install for what i want to use it for? I have thought about just using like XP with an FTP server but im still not sure. Thanks for everyones help.

Im going to be downloading movies/tv/mp3s through the internet to my PC. I will also connect to my PC from my mac Via internet aswell. Although sometimes when I am at my apartment I will be connecting to my PC through my local network.
