I have a compaq presario 1200 laptop. how do I run it in safemode before windows boots up. Please help if you can.

Keep pressing F8 before windows starts to boot and you’ll get a boot menu.

Pressing F5 takes you straight to Safe Mode without going via the menu.

Thanks for the help I will try that. When I try to reboot or shutdown I get a blue screen and it says:

Filename: vwin32 (05) + 000012d0 error: 0e: 0028: c02a44a8.

What caused that and how can it be fix. please help if you can.

On the14th row of the table, it has symptoms like yours. So try:

start>run>msconfig>General tab>Advanced> check Disable fast shutdown
