Won't Boot !

I have an 80gb samsung SP0802N IDE. The drive is recognised in the bios, and I am able to format and store files on it. The problem is, that I can only use it as a secondary drive because it will not boot.
I have used the w2k and xp recovery consoles and created a new boot sector and MBR… to no avail…
Any suggestions other than sending it back to Samsung ???
Thanks

Did you configure the jumpers properly?

Yes to all of the above…
Although I have never tried using cable select, might be worth a shot.
Let you know how I make out.
