    Can any one advise how to get memory on an Asus P5Q-E to run at 1066MHz?

    The memory i have is OCZ Titanium XTC OCZ2T1066IO1G x2 and the CPU is an E7300.

    Asus reckon that the top memory speed is 1200MHz but you have to tell the BIOS to ignore SPD and set the memory manually. When i have tried this i just get instant restarts from the OS or the system will not boot (the latter when i try to up the DDR voltage).

    Help please

    did you try upping the speed in small increments or go straight to your target speed?

    i'm currently running the memory at DDR800 and i did go straight for the target speed and voltage because i thought that the mobo should do it. I've got an idea that the memory can only run in relation to the cpu clock - i think i may have to up the FSB of the cpu to get the memory speed i want due to multiplier restrictions. I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience of the chipset and its demands. looking at manufacturer specs doesn't help at all. they just want to tell you all of the perks of their hardware without informing of its limitations. cs have been no help either; i admire their mastery of the english language but them chinese people in china - or whatever - seem to be reading the user manual when they reply.

    Thanks for the reply any-hoo:stars::stars:
