hi , my son has a computer system with an amd athlon64 3000+ which is using an asrock dual sata mobo , this has an agp slot and a pci-e slot for the graphics , i've been able to get a 6600gt 128mb pci-e card and a 6800 128 mb (not gt or ultra) agp graphics card , what i'm looking for is advice on which would give him the best performance in games like call of duty , call of duty 2 etc , any advice would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Tony

Out of those two cards, the PCI-E would be the best choice. Often because AGP is outdated they are more expensive than the same card with a PCI-E interface. Also, since the card is a GT, and the AGP one is plain vanilla the first choice would give you more performance.

    Addis pretty much nailed it.

The 6800 has 256bit mem interface which is better for high resolutions, AA & AF, and has the possibility of unlocking pipelines. On the other hand, the raw horsepower of the 6600GT would make it a better buy, as the 500Mhz core and 1000Mhz memory clocks (vs, the 6800's 375 and 700) give it the advantage for pure grunt.

The 6600gt only has 8 Pixel pipes (vs. the 6800's 12), and 3 vertex shaders (vs, the 6800's 5), coupled with a 128 Bit (vs. the 6800's 256 Bit) memory interface and only 128MB ram at default, crippling it at higher resolutions, AA & AF.

The performence gap between the two is very minimal.
    I'd definately grab the 6600GT.

Ah misread it, thought it was a 6600 plain vanilla, not 6800.
