Ok Im thinking of a New Gaming/Graphics Design System but im not willing to spend more than $2000AUS i've got a good monitor phillips 107E 17", mouse keyboard Logitech MX700 and speakers Logitech Z-340 im not sure if i should overclock but i will most likely overclock it...
I can help you there, i recently built a computer for a friend for about $1500(i live in AUS).Consisted of; Albatron KX18D Pro 2 nForce 2 mobo AMD AthlonXP3200+ 1 GiG of DDR400 Radeon X700 256MB 80GiG SATA DVD Burner and DVD Rom Modem Keyboard&Mouse (cordless) 17" Monitor and Logitech 5.1 Speakers Would something along those lines help you out? Of course you could get a better mobo like the Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 or maybe go for AMD64!
i got the speakers, monitor and keyboardmouse listed above, i also have a dvd burner that im keeping. so i only need graphics card hard drive motherboard cpu ram... and anything else you think i need..
ok so what would you recomend is a budget of 1500-2000 for a cpu, motherboard, case/psu,video card, ram?
bingo i think i found some 64 bit stuff! be warned-you siad between 1500 and 2000 so here ya go! AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor, Socket 939, "San Diego Core", HT2000 MT/s, 1MB L2 Cache, Boxed $449.00 NEW! ABIT Fatal1ty AN8 SLI Motherboard - nForce4 SLI, HT2000, Dual DDR400, PCI-E, SATA300 RAID, GbE LAN, Firewall, IEEE1394, USB2.0, 8Ch, µGuru, ATX $369.00 ABIT Radeon RX700 PRO 256MB 128-bit DDR3 with DVI, VGA, TV-Out, HD support, PCI Express X16 interface, PowerDVD Software $330.00 Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2 1024MB (2x XMS512MB) PC-3200 Dual Channel DDR RAM, 2x64Mx64non-ECC, 184-pin DIMMs, Unbuffered, CL2, Lifetime warranty $239.00 Grand total of about $1400 this is the basis of a kickbutt system but note it is hard to recommend a case because everyone has thier own taste but you could get 1 from your local computer store for about $150 for a good one! same goes for a power supply, around $150 for an antec or enermax 450Watt so a grand grand total of about $1700AU p.s-note that these prices are prob not the cheapest. p.p.s- you could compare these prices at www.gamedude.com.au if they are too dear!
ok so you reccomended the x700 series, why dident you tell him he should spend that little extra to get an x800pro or xt, it would not matter if you spend a little less on the motherboard.
The X800XL isn't bad my any means, just buy the X800XL if you want it that bad. It's not that expensive.
Once again with the thread hijacking. Majority of replies removed. Cease it now. Stay on topic, or be banned. You can get a fairly meaty system for $2000, but you will definitely want to go down the A64 Socket 939 route, perhaps a 3500 along with a suitable motherboard. If you are planning to go SLi or Crossfire, then invest in a high quality one to get the benefits when games start getting coded to run with two cards. As Ex said, an X800XL would be a fairly decent card, although there is so much choice out there right now, with nVidia's 7XXX series, you may wish to consider one of those, despite the price.
Cut back on the CPU and up the video card. If you were to keep that CPU I would recommend at least an X800 XT to balance out the system.
