    Hi

during christmas i overclock my 3700+ AMD 64, i manage to get it to 2.8ghz at 1.45v, did a 12 hour stress test, and got no errors, my idle temperature was 29 degrees and load was 42.

recently i have been experiencing random resets and just last night got a wierd blue screen, when my dad told me i thought ah BSOD, but no, there was no writing so cant of been a BSOD, anyway i went into the bios, and my temperature of the cpu was 49-52dgrees from the game he was playing (Tomb Raider Legend), i upped the voltage to 1.47V and the shutdowns have stopped.

So why all this time have i been able to have my cpu working 100& stable at 2.8ghz overclock and 1.45v but now i have to run it at 2.8ghz and 1.47 to be 100% stable :s

Also, is 49degrees for an AMD 64 3700+ safe?, i think the temperature outside was about 34 degrees aswell.

For load, 50c is comfortable. Any higher and you should think about better cooling.

Also upping the voltage increases the temperature. This is just a theory, but maybe your CPU is deteriorating while operating at higher voltages.

Yeah a CPU deteriorating over time (whilst o/c'd) sounds plausable.

hmm, yea, well if i get random resets at this voltage then its time to loew the cpu clock speed untill i get better cooling.
