I was looking at how much it would roughly to cost to upgrade to an i7 system using the lowest new i7 processor(920). And when looking at the ddr3-1066 memory(920 can only support up to that) I started to wonder was is it worth the extra money to get 3gb of ram.

I know that the difference from dual to tri channel is minimal on average 0.6% according to Tom's Hardware, but I want to know the performance hit windows vista home premium would take going from 3gb to 2gb(no sites seem t want to give a straight answer). At the moment I have 4gb of 800mhz corsair xms2 memory, and this is about 3gb on my vista system, due to SLi 9600gt, and I only really play Warhammer online and some other older classics(Uplink ftw).

    cheers

the cost would be about $830. the chip is 279, ocz 3 gb mem230 and the mobo 320. mobo's r very expensive now. if u wait for less tech boards they will be cheaper
