Well I saw this guide about a $500 gaming PC that was made back in April or so. Here are all the parts from the guide:

    Videocard: PowerColor AX4870 512MB
CPU: Intel Pentium E5200 2.5GHz Wolfdale
    Motherboard: MSI P43 Neo3-F LGA 775
    Memory: Crucial 2GB DDR2 SDRAM 800
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S223F 22X DVDR
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB
Case and Power Supply: Rosewill TU-155 II 500 Black

So I was wondering. Would this PC would be good enough to run almost all games right now? Because their might be new better parts since it's been a couple months since this guide was made. Also I don't need that good of an optical drive so I can just get a cheaper one and use the money other parts, what parts should I use that on?
    Thanks in advance

Nah, dude. Gaming as I understand it is gaming with near to ultra graphics settings and stuff, so 500 bucks - are just not gonna happen. Sorry, but you need to consider at least twice the amount (that's only for the box, of course - all external hardware excluded) of money to be spent.

Take a leasing or let a bank credit you, if possible and pay the 500 as a first payment. Don't go and buy anything just for 500$. You'll regret. Been there.

Upgrade your cpu to the cheapest core 2 quad then invest in a good cpu heatsink such as thermalright ultra 120a and then get overclocking, could get your system bus running at 1600mhz, set the vcore to the max the cpu handles after all it's just a cap and the pwm will adjust the voltage to what's needed and then adjust your cpu multiplier.

Graphics card is ok but could invest in a ati 5850 dx11 not bad for only £200.

upgrade your ram to 4gb, installed 64 bit OS.

that pc should then last u quite a while and will be pretty good for gaming.
