9600SE Problem

I got a new card (ASUS RADEON 9600 SE) but it will not work on my computer. I have done many things to the MB and BIOS but it makes 3 beebs that signifies that there is no VCard. What can be done to fix this problem? I have even tryed to move it to a new computer and it did work. but when i put it in my computer it doesnt work. Any ideas?
 
I don't think the ASUS RADEON 9600 SE has a 5v power header... does it? If so, is it plugged into the power supply?
 
I have an Asus a7v333 MB, 640 Mb of mem, AMD 2400+ xp @ 2800+. I was using the drivers that came with the old VC but I uninstalled them before I put the new card in. They were nvida. I dont get a chance to install the new drivers.
 
Make sure the card is seated in properly. that's the first thing I'd look at.

Secondly, I'd reset the cmos.

Thirdly, that board uses jumpers to oc right ? Bring it back at stock speed, see if it helps.

After that, what was your previous card ? If it was pci, then there must be a jumper that indicates whether pci or agp is the primary display and there must be one that indicates whether it's agp 2x or 4x. Set it at 4x.

What's your psu ? Maybe it can't handle your new card. What's your old card ?

Oh and you said you've done many things to the bios. So you can actually get that far with the new card in ?
 
I have tried that and it doesnt help.

to answer your question I cannot get that far with the new card i put the old card in and then change thaings then put the new one in.
 
It may be that the PSU may not be providing enough juice, so try to borrow a larger PSU (350W or better) and see if that's the problem. I'd also clear CMOS and see if that helps any. Your CPU will be set to whatever the motherboard sees it, but having the CPU overclocked might be part of the problem.
