I was just wondering that may be in future i will open some kind of business like a Liquor shop. Things which I know is that I need a license for selling alchohol and a better location for the shop.............. I dont know how I am gonna manage the shop, make the program for sales..... where to order and how to order......
What you'll really need if this is your a first time setting up a business is a Business Manager, and Accountant and some good contacts. A good Business manager will help you set up everything in ways you couldn't possibly imagine.
You'll have to formulate a budget on how much income you expect to come in each month and then look at the location cost, utilities, stockloss from either damage or theft, insurance, employee pay (if you're going to have them), liquor license, how to pay off your start-up costs if you borrow money to start this business up, not to mention registers and anything else you might need. I know Anti-Trend was self-employed for awhile, so he might be able to cover some ground I haven't thought of. You're going to need to have a planogram of your store so you know where you're going to stock stuff on the sales floor. You'll also need to keep your inventory of your stock. Believe me, there's so much that goes to hell with your inventory alone. You'll want to have a business advisor, especially someone who's done some work in a food and/or liquor retail operation. While a liquor shop should be a fairly safe bet as far as sales go, it's still not a surefire bet. If you haven't worked in one before, I would highly suggest that you work in one to understand how business is done.
Our familt currently own a liquor store but theres too many opening up around here that undercut us So were out of buisness. trying to think of something more useful we could do with around here. Id recommend doing some in store work as B says before starting just so ya find out some of the ;tricks of the trade'
I think in the begining I will not have enough fund to employ a business manager but an accountant....mmmmmmmmmm.... I think I should have an accountant otherwise I'll end up paying big taxes to the govt... Yea, I m gonna take some bank loan. I will definately do some feasibility studies before openinig the business. I like challanges.............love'em. Thats why I m deciding for this because in NZ nearly 70-80% people drink alchol... nd yea, thanks for the Idea of workin in a liquor shop. There is no use of changing business coz you always find competitors, if you own a good business. The only thing you need here is a trick how to make your business better than others. You already have a better place than other as your shop is oldest...m i right? Actually guys before I didnt had a clear picture in my mind about what I need and what can be the consequences but after watching these replies things are getting clear..........I think there should definately be a thanks button here as well~!
The fact that it is the oldest doesn't make punters want to come back if the can go 50 yards down the street and get their booze cheaper. When the store first opened there was a 'niche' in the market round her and weve had a good 15 years of trading...if we find a new 'niche' then we may be able to have another 15 years of good trading before more competitors turn up
If you provide great service, but are a little higher, you can do alright. If I get some computer parts here locally, I go to the shop that's a good drive away, and costs more than comparable shops. I go there because of the customer service---the employee's know me by name, so I don't mind paying extra for stuff there.
In my opinion, just provinding a good service will not do. You have to do something different like in here we have shops like foodtown, they provide a onecard for free. If you have that card then you can get discounts on so many things and earn points as well. You can use those points for free shopping. Emotionally attached customers comes to your shop more often nd problem is how to attach them emotionally........ If you know them better then you can attach them emotionally like sending them a card on their bday or aniversary.....not on a new year or christmar......on their personal occassion!~!..
I've seen that done too. Some are great, others aren't so much. I know some companies even have gift cards with pre-set amounts in them (but they don't work unless activated at the register). I wouldn't place all your bets on extra stuff, but, yeah, having something to differentiate from others would be good. See about offering a certain kind of liquor that others don't. Have some drink recepie books in there and recommended wine list of the month for each type of meat. I suppose you may want to look at what clientel you want to attract and use that to determine what you'll get for accessories. If you have a lot of average people come in, a $500 bottle of wine may not be something you want to carry. However, if you've got a lot of high rollers expected to hit your store up, that may not be a bad idea. You may even want to have customers fill out a short survey about the store and get some ideas of where you want to adjust.
if in doubt, reset the BIOS and firmware in fact reset everythning that has a reset button (router, VoIP adaptor, speakers, microwave, fridge, anything you can find, press the button and hope for the best)
nice idea~! Another great idea; will help me in understading likes and dislikes of the customers. Hey Big B, what kind of advt. would you recommend. Radio, Newspaper, pamplets, Magazines or TV. I think TV will not be possible for me coz it will cost me a lot and i will end up in loses~!
